Where to take boudoir photos
As a boudoir photographer here in Atlanta, I often get asked about the best location to take boudoir photos. Today, I’m going to answer that question and give you some ideas about where to take boudoir photos.
The Studio
Hotels
Private Homes
Outdoors
Airbnbs
The Studio
The studio is a classic location for boudoir photography. It’s a controlled environment where the photographer has complete control over lighting, background, and other elements. A studio also provides privacy and, depending on the photographer, a client closet and set designs.
Speaking on My Boudoir Atlanta, we maintain a 2,000 sqft studio space with 20+ custom set designs ranging from a vintage clawfoot tub for milkbath photoshoots, a Victorian scene with true antique furniture for moody romance, classic white bedding with an ethereal twist, a modern kitchen for spicier yummy sets, etc. Our client closet ranges from size XS-4X and heels from size 5-11. We have Hollywood style robes in 5 colors, sports jerseys, holiday and bridal props, crowns, florals and more.
I love photographing boudoir on-location in and around Atlanta, but the studio has so many options that I think most will find something they love here.
Hotel
Hotels are a popular choice for boudoir photography because they offer a variety of settings such as modern, classic, or romantic. Hotels also offer beautiful backdrops, like vintage furniture, luxurious sheets, floor to ceiling windows, luxury bathrooms and overall pristine living spaces.
There are obvious stylistic perks to choosing hotels with your stylistic preferences, but also, another advantage of shooting in a hotel is that you can enjoy a mini-vacation with your significant other after!
Your Home
Many clients opt for having their boudoir photos taken in their own home as it is a comfortable and familiar environment. Using your home adds a personal touch that can make the photos more intimate and a way to bring sensuality to your everyday living. Imagine a classic boudoir photo hanging in your walk-in closet or master bathroom - not only will that energy come from the image itself, but your experience using the space in that way.
Outdoors
If you’re looking for something a bit more organic, consider taking boudoir photos outdoors. You can find stunning backdrops such as city streets and rooftops, but there's something undeniably beautiful about nature settings, making it a popular choice during the warmer months. Our studio has a half acre of lush land to model in including a coy pond, but we’ve traveled to client farms and public bodies of water/land for sessions, as well.
Airbnb
A unique location that can be both romantic and creative is renting an Airbnb for your boudoir session. Airbnb's offer a variety of settings, such as cozy cabins, beachside villas or chic city apartments that can not only elevate your photos, but be chosen to your exact stylistic preference. It's an intimate and special setting that will make the boudoir session even more memorable. Might as well stay the night after it’s all said and done too!
And yes, we did rent an airbnb that had an arcade on site!
There are innumerable options when it comes to choosing a location for your boudoir photography session. From studios to hotels, homes, outdoors or Airbnb's, each option comes with its own merit. Ultimately, the right decision comes down to personal preference, budget, proximity and what will make you feel the most confident. As your trusted boudoir photographer, I will work with you to choose the best location in or near Atlanta that matches both your personality and the goals of your session.
