What to Expect at Your First Boudoir Session in Atlanta (From Booking to Final Image)
You've been thinking about this for a while. Maybe a few months. Maybe a couple of years. You've scrolled through the portfolio, bookmarked the page, closed the tab, opened it again on a Tuesday night after the kids were asleep. You've zoomed in on other women's photos wondering if your body could look like that. You've typed out a question in the contact form and deleted it.
This post is for the version of you sitting on that fence right now. Here is exactly what happens when you stop watching and actually book a boudoir session at My Boudoir Atlanta — every step, no mystery, no surprises. By the end, you'll know more about the experience than most.
Key Takeaways
✓ Your session starts with a planning consultation. We build the entire shoot around you before you ever step in front of a camera.

✓ We direct every pose, every angle. No modeling experience needed. You don't bring talent, just bring yourself.
✓ You see your images the same day at your reveal appointment and choose your collection right there.
✓ Payment plans available through Affirm, Afterpay, and more — the retainer starts at $149 for minis, $349 for standard sessions
Step One: The Consultation
(Where We Build the Whole Thing Around You)
When you reach out through our contact page, you're not committing to anything. You're starting a conversation. We'll schedule a consultation.. a real conversation, not a sales pitch, where we talk about what you want, what you're nervous about, and what kind of session fits your life right now.
This is where you tell us things like: I've never been in front of a camera. I don't know what to wear. I want it sexy but not vulgar. I have surgery scars. I'm bringing my own lingerie but I also want to see the closet. I want to cry as little as possible (no promises on that one, the good tears come regardless).
We'll talk wardrobe, sets, the vibe you want, and any specific ideas you've been saving on Pinterest or Instagram. If you don't have any ideas, that's fine. That's literally what we're here for. By the end of the consultation you'll know exactly what to expect, what to bring, and what the day will look like. The mental overhead you've been carrying about this? It gets handed to us.
The Morning Of:
Hair, Makeup, and the Moment You Stop Being Nervous
You arrive at our studio on Penelope Street NW in Atlanta. You are probably nervous. Damn near 100% of the clients we've ever had were nervous. The woman whose photos you've been admiring on our Instagram? She was nervous. It's part of it.
The first thing that happens is professional hair and makeup — included with every standard session. Our team is all women, and the vibe in the room during this part is more brunch-with-your-people than clinical makeover. Music is playing. You're in the chair. Someone is making you look phenomenal while you drink sparkling water, wine or tea and start to relax.
Here's what happens next, and nobody prepares you for it: you look in the mirror and you see a version of yourself you forgot existed. Professional photoshoot hair and makeup is a different animal from what you do at home. It's not about changing your face. It's about seeing what's already there when someone who knows what they're doing puts it under the right light. The nervousness usually breaks right about here.
The Session:
One Hour, Four Looks,
and You Don't Have to Know What You're Doing
A standard boudoir session is about an hour of shooting. You get up to four outfit changes across four different sets from our collection of 20+ luxury set designs. Each set has its own mood, lighting, and energy so your session doesn't look like the same photo repeated in different underwear. It looks like a collection of images that are actually different from each other.
The question every first-timer asks: What do I do with my hands?
Nothing. We direct every pose, every angle, every placement. Your photographer is with you the entire time, guiding your body, your expression, and your energy through every frame. You don't need to have done this before. You don't need to be "photogenic" (a word that means nothing except "has had good lighting and a competent photographer"). You don't need to bring anything except yourself.
If you didn't bring wardrobe, we have a full client closet stocked with bodysuits, Hollywood robes, heels, faux furs, crowns, bustiers, gowns, and accessories from size XS to 4X. If you brought your own pieces, we'll mix and match. And not everything needs to be lingerie — some of our most striking images are a woman in an oversized shirt, or a blazer, or nothing at all. The wardrobe serves the story you want to tell.
The Same-Day Reveal:
This Is the Part Nobody Warns You About
After your session, you don't go home and wait three weeks for a link to a gallery. You see your images the same day.
This is the part that breaks people open. You sit down. The images come up on screen. And you see yourself the way your photographer saw you, which is also the way the people who love you see you, which is also the way you actually look when you're not judging yourself under bathroom lighting at 11pm. The gap between what you expected and what you're looking at is where the tears start.
This isn't a sales tactic. We do same-day reveals because the experience of seeing yourself in these images specifically while the session is still in your body, while the feeling is still live, is part of the whole point. It's evidence, the kind your brain can't argue with later.
During the reveal, you'll select the collection that fits you. Collections include combinations of digital images, heirloom albums, and print credits for wall art. They range in investment, and we offer payment plans through Affirm, Afterpay, PayPal Credit, and in-house options. Pricing details are on our investment page.
After the Session:
When You Get Your Images
Digital images are typically delivered within one to two weeks. Physical products such as leatherbound albums, metal prints, canvas wall art, lustre prints, etc take additional production time depending on what you select. Your photographer will give you a clear timeline at the reveal, but even those are delivered quickly.
Privacy is simple: your images are yours. Nothing goes on the website or social media without your explicit permission. Many clients choose to share because they're proud of the images and want other women to see what's possible. Some keep every single image private and others decide on sharing a few. All decisions are respected without question.
The thing our clients tell us most often, weeks or months later, isn't about the photos. It's that something shifted. They started wearing the lingerie they'd been saving in a drawer. They stopped skipping mirrors. They stopped deferring the things they'd been putting off until they felt more like themselves. The session didn't create that shift — it was already happening. The images just gave it something to point to.
You've Been Watching
Long Enough
You don't need to lose the weight first. You don't need to be "the kind of woman who does this." You don't need to know how to pose or what to wear or how to look at a camera. You need to show up. We've got the rest.
My Boudoir Atlanta is an empowerment photography studio by women, for women, located in the heart of Atlanta. We photograph women of every shape, size, and age. We've been doing this a long time. And the body you have today is the body you'll wish you'd photographed five years from now.
Start the conversation. That's all the first step is.
