Body Positive Boudoir Photography in Atlanta: What to Expect

The phrase “body positive” has been through the wringer. It’s been co-opted by brands selling diet shakes, slapped onto marketing campaigns for companies that don’t stock anything above a size 12, and diluted into a hollow Instagram caption underneath a photo that’s been smoothed and filtered into oblivion.

So when we say My Boudoir Atlanta is body positive, we want to be specific about what that actually means. It means we photograph every woman who walks through our door with the same level of artistry, attention, and respect. No asterisks. No fine print. No invisible criteria you have to meet before we take you seriously.

What Body Positive Boudoir

Actually Looks Like

It doesn’t look like anything in particular. That’s the whole point.

Body positive boudoir photography in Atlanta means your session is built around your body, not in spite of it. It means your photographer doesn’t spend the shoot trying to make you look thinner or younger or more like someone you’re not. It means the final images look like you on your absolute best day, which is a very different thing from looking like someone else.

We’ve photographed women in their twenties and women in their sixties. Women with stretch marks, scars, mastectomy scars, vitiligo, cellulite, tattoos, and bodies that have done extraordinary things. Every single one of them was stunning. Not in a patronizing, “everyone is beautiful” greeting card way. In a “this photograph is a work of art and it happens to be of you” way.

Your Session, Step by Step

You show up. That’s the hardest part, and we’re not being glib. Walking into a boudoir studio for the first time takes genuine courage, and we never forget that.

When you arrive at our studio in Atlanta’s West End, you’ll meet your photographer and your hair and makeup team. The energy is warm. Think less “clinical photo studio” and more “your coolest friend’s living room, but with professional lighting.” We’ll talk through your outfit options, discuss the vibe you’re going for, and answer every question you have. There are no stupid questions here. We’ve heard them all, and we love every single one.

Hair and makeup takes about an hour. This isn’t a rush job. Your artists are creating a look that enhances what’s already there, not painting over it. Then we move into the studio space, and your photographer walks you through every pose. You don’t need to be a model. You don’t need to know how to position your hands or where to look. All you need to do is breathe and trust the process.

Most sessions run 90 minutes to two hours, with 3 to 4 wardrobe changes. By the second outfit, something shifts. The nervous energy burns off and something else takes its place. Confidence, maybe. Or just the quiet realization that this is actually fun.

Common Fears

for a boudoir session

(And Why They’re All Wrong)

Let’s address the elephants in the room, because they’re taking up space your confidence could be using. “I’m not photogenic.” Neither is anyone, really. “Photogenic” is a word that describes good lighting and a skilled photographer, not a genetic trait. You’re not unphotogenic. You’ve just never had someone who knew how to photograph you properly.

“I need to lose weight first.” This is the big one, and we hear it almost every day. Consider this: if you book a session today, you will have professional photographs of yourself as you are right now. If you also happen to start a fitness journey, great. Now you have a “before” that’s absolutely stunning. And if you don’t change a single thing about your body? Those photos will still be stunning. Because the beauty was never conditional.

How We Build a Space

Where You Can Actually Relax

during your boudoir photoshoot

Trust isn’t something we expect you to walk in with. We earn it.

My Boudoir Atlanta is a studio run entirely by women. Your photographer is a woman. Your hair and makeup artists are women. The person editing your final images is a woman. This matters. Especially for a boudoir session, where vulnerability is part of the experience, knowing that every person in the room understands what it feels like to live in a woman’s body changes the entire dynamic.

We don’t share images without explicit written consent. We don’t post anything to social media unless you give us permission. Your privacy isn’t a policy buried in fine print. It’s a promise we make to your face.

The studio itself is a private space. No foot traffic from other clients. No random people wandering through. When you’re in our studio, the only people present are the ones directly involved in making you look incredible.

And guess what? If you don’t like an image, we delete it forever!

The Moment That Changes Everything

We’ve been doing this long enough to know exactly when it happens. It’s usually in the middle of the first set when I turn the camera to show you a sample image. This is when I typically see the shocked face, floored by how incredible they look straight out of the camera and with no editing!

There’s a pause. Almost always. A beat where the woman sitting in front of us processes what she’s looking at. And then, often, come the tears. Not sad tears. The kind that come from seeing something you didn’t believe was possible. The kind that come from realizing you’ve been at war with a body that was never your enemy.

We don’t sell photographs. Not really. We sell the experience of seeing yourself clearly, maybe for the first time. And that experience is available to every woman in Atlanta, regardless of her size, her age, her skin color, or her relationship with her own reflection.

What to Bring to Your

Body Positive Boudoir Session

Wardrobe is personal, and we never dictate what you should wear. But we do have guidance that helps. Bring pieces that make you feel something when you put them on. That silk robe you bought on vacation. The matching set that’s been sitting in your drawer for a “special occasion.” An oversized men’s shirt that makes you feel effortlessly cool. A pair of heels that do something electric to your posture.

We recommend 4 outfit changes to give your gallery variety. Think about range: one outfit that’s romantic, one that’s powerful, one that’s playful. And yes, you can absolutely include shots with minimal or no clothing if that feels right for you. Your session, your rules. We just bring the expertise and the lighting.

This Is Your Invitation

We’re not going to pretend that booking a boudoir session isn’t a big deal. It is. It’s a declaration. It’s you telling yourself, “I am worth celebrating exactly as I am, right now, today.” And if some part of you is reading this and thinking that might be true, that’s enough. That tiny spark is all you need to get started.

My Boudoir Atlanta offers flexible payment plans and complimentary consultations so you can ask every question, voice every concern, and make sure this feels right before you commit. Because empowerment should be accessible. Not just for women who look a certain way or earn a certain income.

For every woman. By women.
